How to add, edit, and delete DNS Records
Before adding or editing your DNS Records, make sure your domain is set to the platform’s default nameservers. This setting allows you to manage DNS Records directly within your account.
What are nameservers?
Nameservers are specialized servers that store DNS Records and route internet traffic to the correct destination. They act as directories, ensuring that when someone enters your domain (e.g., example.com), they are directed to the correct server for your website, email, or other services.
Default nameservers refer to the standard nameservers provided by DotServe. Using default nameservers allows you to manage your DNS Records directly within your account. If you switch to custom nameservers (from an external DNS provider), you will need to manage DNS records outside of the DotServe platform.
How to confirm if you’re using default nameservers
Follow these steps to check or set your domain’s nameservers to the platform’s default:
1. Log in to your account
2. Find your domain under Your domains and click the Manage button (you can also search for your domain using the Search icon)
3. Click the DNS tab
4. Select Nameservers under the DNS tab
5. Click the Edit nameservers button
6. If custom nameservers are set, switch to the default nameservers by choosing Default DotServe nameservers
7. Click Save
Once your domain is set to the platform’s default nameservers, you can proceed to manage your DNS Records.
